We are growing our team to deliver on an exciting, high impact, open-source roadmap in collaboration with Google and other industry partners.

What it is like to work at lowRISC

“lowRISC provides me the room to grow and work on the things that I am passionate about.”

“I love the feeling that I’m creating something worthwhile, and enjoy the technical side too.”

“There is a lot of variety in my work that keeps things interesting. Many technical challenges and the ability to learn from some incredibly talented colleagues.”

lowRISC offers a friendly and diverse environment both for graduates and experienced engineers. Being a small company, we encourage employees to cut across disciplines and move between projects. This, together with our open communication and strong technical focus provides a nurturing environment for their personal development.

At lowRISC we are all about commercially deployable open-source, and our designs and related deliverables like documentation and software are highly visible and must be of very high quality. We invest heavily in strong engineering systems and tooling so that the quality of our deliverables is a source of pride for our employees. You can get a sense of our activities from the lowRISC GitHub repo.

lowRISC culture is open, respectful, inclusive and professional. Our open-source ethos also permeates into our company values.

Locations and hybrid working

We have offices in Cambridge and Zurich. Both cities have become exciting technology hubs around two of the best technical universities in Europe.

Cambridge is a beautiful city with a medieval town centre, located in one of the driest parts of England. It is often ranked as one of the most desirable places to live in the UK. Our office is located a short walk away from the train station and the buzzing city centre.

Zurich consistently ranks among the world’s best cities for well-being, cleanliness, and efficient services. It is English friendly and located only a short drive away from the Swiss Alps. Our office is located in the Zurich Technopark, and easily accessible by public transport.

At lowRISC we support flexible and hybrid working. We believe that offices are important for employees to learn from each other, collaborate on difficult issues, and develop human connections. Therefore, we expect employees to spend significant time in the office, but we allow flexibility in working patterns and hybrid working is the norm across engineering.

What we look for in employees

Our engineers work mostly in the open. As a result, we look for employees who are technically strong and responsible for the quality of what they produce, and who can develop relationships with other engineers working on the same projects.

We always welcome speculative applications, and have a list of vacancies that changes depending on the gaps we can see in upcoming projects.
